We have all seen the ads advertising security monitoring for $18.95 (or lower) per month, it seems like a great deal right? But what aren’t they telling you? Have you read the fine print? These listed prices are what we in the industry call “teaser rates”. They are prices to get you, the consumer interested enough in their products and services to make a buying decision.

Later, you will find that the listed price or “teaser rate” is the bare bones, basic service that does not include the features you need such as remote access, additional zones (contacts, motions, glass breaks), or video monitoring. Even worse, the price doesn’t include everything you will need to pay for such as trip fees for service calls from technicians. So next time it seems too good to be true, make sure to read the fine print. It will end up saving you a lot money and time.
